Rapid innovation and customer success feature prominently in Qumulo’s 2021 awards. From a 4x leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Distributed File Systems and Object Storage to the Deloitte Technology Fast 500–it’s clear that customer success comes first.
Looking back on our 2021 awards, a great place to set the stage is with our Net Promoter Score (NPS). Qumulo ranks among the highest NPS in the storage industry, consistently over 85 for customer satisfaction–even as our customer base expands. We’ve experienced 6X customer growth since 2018 and at the end of October 2021, our NPS holds true at 89.
Customer satisfaction also features prominently in the Gartner Magic Quadrant and you can download a copy to see what Qumulo’s customers told Gartner in the 2021 report about Qumulo’s approach to rapid innovation and customer success.
Qumulo Named a Leader in the Gartner 2021 Magic Quadrant for Distributed File Systems & Object Storage
According to Ben Gitenstein, VP Product Management, “We believe our ability to continually innovate and execute at the rapid pace required by customers helped us achieve this leadership position in the 2021 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Distributed File Systems and Object Storage for the fourth year in a row!
Our distributed, scale-out file system software helps some of the world’s leading hospitals, like Imelda Hospital in Belgium, provide optimal patient care by making sure physicians have fast access to patients’ full medical imagery for rapid analysis.
Qumulo’s file data platform helps customers like San Diego Supercomputer Center advance space exploration through massive research projects. It helps award-winning animation studios like Industrial Brothers bring children’s stories to life through new digital content. And it helps IHME lead research to create vaccines–including those for COVID-19.
We want to thank every one of our customers for relying on Qumulo’s rapid innovation to help them manage over 300 billion files in 2021 on premises and in the cloud.
“Our team has been able to sustain burst scaling at a rate of 1.3 million IOPS for upwards of 5 hours at a time, with peaks as high as 2 million IOPS. This is a level unheard of in the past, and it highlights how much Qumulo has helped us to condense our production timelines when required and allow artists to have more iterations in less time, overall resulting in higher-quality final work.”

Qumulo Ranks 163rd on Deloitte’s 2021 Technology Fast 500™ List
Due to our impressive 3-year growth rate of 807%, increased customer demand globally, and continued high customer satisfaction–Qumulo was ranked 163 out of the 500 fastest-growing companies in North America on Deloitte’s 2021 Technology Fast 500™.
Bill Richter, CEO of Qumulo, credits the company’s ability to grow its customer roster and expand its presence in more than 50 countries to the global increase in both creation and consumption of unstructured data.
“The growth of unstructured data continues to drive the demand for modern solutions that make it simple and flexible to manage data at massive scale across environments,” said Richter. “We’re honored to receive this recognition from Deloitte that underscores how Qumulo is contributing to our customers’ success and to the industry’s growth as a whole.”
“Storage was our weak point. It was a shame to have succeeded in developing a unique HPC engineering offering only to be blocked by file storage challenges. So we decided to replace this heterogeneous legacy solution with something new. After a thorough comparison, we chose Qumulo File Data Platform. Scaling up with Qumulo is made easier by the fact that the software solution is hardware-agnostic.”
Vincent Julié, Chief Innovation Officer of Portalliance
2021 Channel Tech Innovator
Our partners have also contributed to our expansion and we work closely with them to ensure a great customer experience. Qumulo was recognized by CRN as one of the 2021 CRN Channel Tech Innovators. This award recognizes true channel-friendly innovation, honoring products and services that offer both major advances in technology and partner growth opportunities—across areas including cloud, security, software, infrastructure and devices.
The Media and Entertainment (M&E) industry is one example where a focus on rapid innovation and customer success has enabled digital transformation driven by the global pandemic. When the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) 2021 show was postponed until 2022, just a month before the long-standing industry event was scheduled to begin, Qumulo worked with our partners to continue the conversation with our M&E customers virtually. Three short weeks later, we hosted the first Qumulo M&E Summit.
2021: GeekWire Awards Finalist: UX Design of the Year
Geekwire Awards celebrate the Pacific Northwest’s leading innovators, entrepreneurs and technologists, based in part on community voting. With our real-time analytics dashboard for data visualization, our customers can monitor usage, control access, prevent problems, and spot trends–at a glance. For this innovation, Qumulo was chosen as a 2021: Geekwire Awards Finalist for UX Design of the Year.
“We’ve got all our teams working off the same data platform at the same time, not separate solutions for every department. Our teams are happy and comfortable using Qumulo as their centralized data system. IT is happy too, because we have one place to look for files and one place for backup. And, the Qumulo analytics give us instant visibility into our data and users.”
Aidan Taub, Systems and Technology Director, LEAP
Thank you to our customers and partners for the inspiration in 2021. We look forward to continuing our focus on rapid innovation and customer success in 2022!
