Two options for Edge Accelerator: RoBo, for larger edge deployments requiring high performance and up to 100TB of local cache capacity; and SoHo, for smaller edge instances requiring up to 32TB of local cache capacity. For Cloud Accelerator, there are only charges for throughput/IOPs consumed.

If more storage is needed locally, then upgrading to a fully licensed version of Qumulo Core would be the more cost-effective and reliable solution.

No – Qumulo Accelerators are explicitly engineered as a local-storage endpoint that pairs with at least one Qumulo Core or cloud deployment via Cloud Data Fabric and are not available as standalone solutions.

No.  We don’t recommend hosting data solely on Qumulo Accelerators due to their limited ability to protect local data against failure. The preferred solution would be to use Qumulo Accelerator for read-write caching only, and host all data in an on-premises or cloud-based Qumulo instance, which includes safeguards at the data layer to protect against device or node failure.

For most use cases, Edge Accelerator serves as a local cache for remote data rather than as the primary data owner, with Qumulo NeuralCache dynamically and automatically managing the prefetching of remote data to the local Edge Accelerator target and the flushing of older data that is no longer needed locally. Just open the files you use, and let NeuralCache determine how to optimize both read and write performance for the data you work with. In most cases, the movement of data between the Edge Accelerator device and an on-premises or cloud-based Qumulo deployment is fully automatic.
