Qumulo Launches Cloud Native File System on AWS in Private Availability

Qumulo, the simple way to manage exabyte-scale data anywhere, is debuting the private availability of the Qumulo Cloud Native file system, an enterprise-proven, multi-protocol file system to store, manage, and curate unstructured data at the exabyte scale in conjunction with the power of Amazon S3 buckets and AWS infrastructure.

The Qumulo Cloud Native file system combines the scalability, durability, and cost effectiveness of enterprises’ Amazon S3 buckets from AWS with Qumulo’s file system layer that is disaggregated from object storage. Leveraging the industry’s leading file system—as well as its performance, security, and protocol compatibility boons—the Qumulo Cloud Native file system works with Amazon S3 buckets to deliver high throughput and transactional performance, according to Qumulo.

Additionally, Qumulo’s disaggregated file system layer empowers businesses to complete 90-99% of all transactions from within the file system itself, ultimately lowering costs, according to the company. Participants in the private availability of the Qumulo Cloud Native file system can deploy a system on AWS in minutes with the ability to scale from 4GBps to hundreds of GBps through AWS’s Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) and storage (Amazon S3) infrastructure.

Atop of the announcement of the Qumulo Cloud Native file system is the launch of Qumulo’s Global Namespace (GNS), which enables users and applications alike to access remote app data as if it were local. When paired with Qumulo’s Cloud Native file system, the GNS offering empowers users to collaborate globally from any device connected to an AWS infrastructure—without impacting performance or driving up costs, according to Qumulo.
