At Qumulo, our goal is to simplify unstructured data management at massive scale across hybrid cloud environments. We’ve built our file data platform to make managing unstructured data radically simple, which is imperative to our customers needing to manage mission-critical data securely, at scale, and across cloud environments.

I’m pleased to share that Qumulo’s file data platform has won Cloud Computing Magazine’s 2020 Cloud Computing Excellence Award for radically simplifying file data management in the cloud. The award recognizes companies that have most effectively leveraged cloud computing in their efforts to bring new, differentiated services and solutions to market.

Additionally, TVTechnology has named Qumulo CloudStudio a winner of the 2020 Product Innovation Awards for enabling creative suites to run with unlimited speed and scale in public clouds. The Product Innovation Awards recognize excellence in the manufacturing of products serving the TV/pro video industry.

Accelerate innovation, and unleash the power of data wherever it resides

Cinesite Studios turned to Qumulo to leap over technical barriers in its creative workflows.

With Qumulo and Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cinesite’s animation and VFX pipelines leveraged Qumulo’s hybrid file data services in order to deliver compelling images. Cinesite was able to render 16K video at scale on Qumulo’s file system running on AWS with industry-leading levels of speed and agility.

“The only way we could expand to the new zone was by implementing Qumulo cloud storage,” said Graham Peddie, chief operating officer of Cinesite Montreal. “This approach allowed us to spin up the machines and store data for offsite rendering on AWS US East (Virginia). Without Qumulo, we wouldn’t have been able to do this or meet our deadlines.”

As another example, digital animation studio Industrial Brothers turned to Qumulo to quickly shift its workloads to the cloud after COVID-19 shut down on-site work, and get its artists working in the cloud.

The Qumulo and Industrial Brothers teams built the studio’s pipeline in AWS, leveraging Qumulo as the file data platform and Teradici to give a real-time experience from the remote creative workstations.

Jean-Paul Godmaire, head of IT for Industrial Brothers said, “I don’t want to say Qumulo saved the company. But we were relying on this solution, and if it didn’t work, I don’t know what we would have done. We consulted, deployed, tested, and onboarded the Qumulo cloud file system within three weeks, and then we were up and running. We essentially moved the office to the cloud in under a month. Kudos to Qumulo for making it simple.”

Recognition like this is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Qumulo team. It’s also a direct result of the trust our customers have in Qumulo to put their more important asset – their data – in our hands.
