Cisco and Qumulo Partner to Bridge the Enterprise Data Gap from Edge to Core to Cloud
SEATTLE – Sept. 18, 2025 – Qumulo, the enterprise leader in unstructured data management today announced a strategic partnership with Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) to deliver a unified data platform spanning edge, core, and cloud for enterprise organizations with a keen focus on enabling enterprise-wide observability. The partnership combines Qumulo’s Data Platform with Cisco Unified Computing Systems (UCS) to help enterprises consolidate decades of stranded file and object data and unlock its value for AI, analytics, and observability.
For years, enterprises have struggled with fragmented data silos that inhibit innovation and limit the effectiveness of AI. The partnership between Cisco and Qumulo directly addresses this challenge by creating a single, software-defined data fabric that scales from edge environments to exabyte-scale data centers and across all major public clouds.
From Data Bottleneck to Powering the Enterprise
The partnership transforms storage from a complex operational burden into a strategic asset. The initial focus is on two critical enterprise workloads:
- Unified Platform for Splunk Observability Cloud: The marquee workload is observability. Qumulo’s Data Platform natively integrates with Splunk Observability Cloud, streaming OpenTelemetry directly into observability pipelines. Enterprises can deploy Splunk Observability Cloud at scale on Cisco UCS systems, spanning modular compute, high-performance all-flash, dense hybrid flash, and cost-effective HDD UCS platforms. This turnkey approach simplifies deployment and creates a secure and reliable foundation for cybersecurity, situational awareness, and unified visibility and real-time troubleshooting across all environments.
- Unlocking Trapped Data for AI: The joint solution enables the consolidation of billions of files and petabytes-to-exabytes of unstructured data into a single, globally consistent network-attached namespace. This eliminates decades of stranded data, giving AI systems complete and instant access to the information needed for more accurate models and better outcomes. Key workloads and data include medical imaging, signals intelligence, autonomous driving telemetry, life sciences research, geospatial mapping and imagery, video surveillance, and enterprise document management.
When enterprise data is unified onto Qumulo and Cisco UCS, the Qumulo Data Platform natively streams OpenTelemetry data directly into Splunk Observability Cloud, which is also OpenTelemetry-native, helping strengthen enterprise data ownership. This not only creates a turnkey foundation for cybersecurity, situational awareness, and enterprise observability, it enriches the observability dataset. Organizations benefit from a stronger security posture through Splunk Observability Cloud’s visibility into real-time troubleshooting to drive faster anomaly detection, helping strengthen resilience against threats to sovereign data.
“This partnership makes it radically easier to gain real-time insight across complex environments by enabling AI reasoning across decades of unstructured data,” said Qumulo Senior Vice President of Product Brandon Whitelaw. “Together with Cisco, we’re delivering a modern data platform that overcomes the ‘data gap’ by simplifying operations and managing data at a petabyte-to-exabyte scale across the edge, data center, and cloud while enhancing situational awareness with deep integrations into Splunk Observability Cloud.”
Validated Infrastructure and Global Reach
In the hybrid cloud era, the Qumulo data fabric provides the connective tissue to keep enterprise information accessible and actionable wherever it resides. Anchored by Cisco UCS compute and Splunk Observability Cloud, the joint solution delivers limitless scale, frictionless operations, and validated, secure infrastructure to the world’s most demanding industries including healthcare, life sciences, and financial services.
“With Qumulo on Cisco UCS, customers gain a resilient, observability-ready foundation that empowers their security and operations teams to move faster, detect anomalies sooner, and scale smarter,” said Elisabeth De Dobbeleer, Senior Vice President of Cisco Global Partner Programs. “We’re looking forward to helping our customers succeed in their data needs while leveraging Cisco’s extensive global sales and partner network to accelerate adoption.”
“As enterprises grapple with massive data growth and rising complexity, they need infrastructure that doesn’t just store data, but puts it to work,” said Daniel McGinniss, Vice President of Product Management for Cisco Compute. “With Qumulo on Cisco UCS, we’re meeting that demand head-on by giving customers a high-performance foundation for observability and analytics, built for scale, simplicity, and security.”
Availability and Delivery
Qumulo’s Unified Data Platform is now available on Cisco’s global price list, and through Cisco’s global network of distributors and value added reseller partners. It includes pre-validated, jointly supported on-premises architectures with future support for Cloud Native Qumulo deployments in all major public clouds.
